FAQs about Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy in Grapevine

How does full-body cryotherapy work?

Cryo is fast, effective, and requires no down time! Exposing the body to extremely low  temperatures within the cryotherapy chamber alerts your brain to pump more blood to your internal organs which causes vasoconstriction – in layman’s terms this means your blood vessels constrict causing your blood pressure to increase. As you exit the chamber, vasodilation happens which reverses the process by decreasing your blood pressure and increasing blood flow plus oxygen to the body. This effect to the body caused by the  sub-zero temperatures aids in clearing toxins, decreasing muscle soreness and increasing endorphins.

Is it safe?

Yes! To ensure your safety, we employ the most advanced cryotherapy technology available and a trained  technician will accompany you in-room for the duration of your session.  Additionally, your head remains above the top of the chamber at all times via an adjustable lift that allows for varying heights – this measure keeps you from breathing in the cooling nitrogen.

Who should NOT use full-body cryotherapy?

The following conditions are contraindications to whole body cryotherapy : pregnancy, severe Hyperextension (BP> 180/100), cardiac pacemaker, acute kidney  disease, urinary tract disease, cold allergy (those allergic to the  cold), infection, tumor disease, Raynaud's Syndrome, uncontrolled  seizures, acute or recent cerebrovascular accident, peripheral arterial occlusive disease, venous thrombosis, symptomatic lung disorders, acute or recent myocardial infarction, unstable angina pectoris, arrhythmia  and symptomatic cardiovascular disease.

How does it feel?

This treatment is completely dry which allows your body to withstand the  extremely low temperatures. For some people, a slight pins and needles sensation may occur during the final 20-30 seconds but  disappears immediately upon exiting the session.

What do I wear?

Clients are required to wear socks, gloves, and slippers - all of which we provide. In addition to that, females have the option of wearing their undergarments (no metal wiring in bra-strap) and males generally disrobe down to their underwear.

Should I eat/drink before/after?

While it is always good to be hydrated, it's not required to consume anything (or not consume) pre-session. Post-session we recommend hydrating however eating is completely individual and has no negative or positive effect either way in regard to the benefits of the treatment.

Cryotherapy in Grapevine

Can I workout before/after cryotherapy?

Yes, you can do both - it is a matter of personal preference. If you choose to workout before your treatment, we ask that you allow enough time to be completely dry (no sweat). Doing cryotherapy before a workout will help loosen you up and prime your body for any physical activity. Doing cryotherapy post-workout will reap the full benefits of recovery and feeling more energized and flexible.

How often should I do cryotherapy?

While a single session will instantly help, we recommend doing at least 2 treatments per week for the first month. Many of our customers come more like 3-4 or even 5-6 times per week to maximize their potential. For ongoing maintenance we recommend at least weekly.

When will I see results or improvement?

Immediately you’ll notice the positive effects of increased endorphins and adrenaline, leaving you feeling focused and recharged. If you’re looking to see more physical changes, results are seen after about two weeks of regular treatments.

What do I need to bring with me?

We’ll provide you with everything, just be sure to wear undergarments without metal for your treatment and be relatively dry (no sweat).

If I'm claustrophobic can I do cryotherapy?

Yes. Our cryotherapy chambers are open at the top and your head is fully above the machine. Plus, the door doesn’t lock as it’s held closed by magnets allowing the ability to exit easily. In addition, you’ll have your choice of music for the duration of your session.

Is their an age limit?

Those under 18 years of age require parental consent to treatment needed. Cryotherapy produces completely natural effects so it is safe for everyone from young children to senior citizens!

FAQs on Cryo Slimming and Cryo Lifting

Cryoskin in Grapevine

Is it safe?

The device is very safe. In terms of programming and electronics, it is managed by a computerized Windows system. The cooling system is controlled by an electronic temperature sensor located in the processing head of the device and the temperature is controlled in real time by the machine and figures displayed on the screen. The machine was launched 5 years ago and is used throughout France. It is currently the most successful non-invasive slimming treatment available in France.

How does it work?

The treatments lasts for 28 minutes and is done manually through a  massage technique. The session begins with 2 minutes of heat and then a decrease in temperature to -8 degrees for the duration of the session. The purpose of the treatment is to lower the temperature of the fat cells enough to cause what is known as the phenomenon of apoptosis. This phenomenon is triggered when the temperature of the fat tissue is between 17 and 12 ° and causes these cells to die. These cells are then naturally passed through the body through the lymphatic system and  urine.

What are the benefits?

Clinical studies have shown that this technology naturally destroys fat cells, but as with most techniques, the results vary from one individual to another. The expected effect is usually rapid: part of the fat cells are destroyed during the session while the others will be eliminated within 2 to 3 weeks. It has also been proven to help with micro circulation and a significant increase in collagen due to the thermal shock that is caused by the hot and cold.

How does it feel?

The treatment is painless, with some clients describing it as rather pleasant. This is due to the massage technique and the session beginning  with skin warming descending into the gradual decrease of temperature.

Who shouldn't do it?

Anyone with; severe Raynaud’s syndrome, people who suffer from very poor circulation, pregnant woman, severe diabetes, cancer, should not do this treatment.

How often can I do it?

Slimming treatments can be performed once every 14 days and lifting treatments can be performed every 7 days. There is a physiological  reason for this: when apoptosis occurs and some fat cells die, waste is formed. This will be eliminated by natural routes (blood, lymphatic system, and then urine). Metabolism must therefore be allowed to evacuate this waste without overloading the system.

Cryo Slimming Before and After

Can I workout before/after?

Absolutely there are no side effects to this treatment that will stop you working out.

What do I need to bring?

You do not need to bring anything, we provide you with everything you need.

What is the difference between this and other Cryo treatments?

There are other manual cryotherapy machines. But tests and experience have shown that no other machine is currently capable of such dramatic  results. These results are due to the fact that the device does not only produce cold but heat also. The exchange within these temperatures has a dramatic effect on the body’s tissues causing them to drop to 12 ° when fat tissues reach this temperature they die and are passed through the lymphatic system.

Why can I only have 2 areas done at one time?

Again, to not overload the body’s pathways. There is also strong  internal cooling of the tissues and the treating of more zones at the same time could cause in extreme cases hypothermia and fatigue.

Are there any side effects?

There are generally no side effects apart from the amount you urinate to  increase slightly over the 3 days following the treatment along with the appearance of your urine in color.
In minimal cases there were the following side effects:
In some cases there were localized redness that disappeared after a few hours and in rare cases there was local pain that did not exceed 2 to 3 hours. There may also be some itching without consequences and often this is due to the reaction of certain cosmetic products used by clients; to avoid the chances of this do not use anything before coming in for treatment.
There were some experiences of delayed onset muscle soreness from  treatments on the stomach due to unintentionally engaging the abdominals, again disappearing later that same evening.

Who should do this?

Anyone who is looking to lose weight or has stubborn areas of fat they are looking to remove.
